Life...or something like it?

Ok, so here's the deal. We are sending the accused 9/11 planners to trial in NYC where they will most likely be found guilty of at the very least, masterminding(is this a word?) the 9/11 attacks.

Now, I'm all for the rights of the people, fair trial, etc... etc... However, these men were "arrested" under the new Homeland Security laws. What this means is they were arrested as terrorists, which auto-freakin-matically removes your rights to a speedy/fair trial. Ultra right, ultra left, begin shouting now(is this the only thing you agree on?)

These men do not deny they were behind the attacks. They freely, and proudly admit to planning them and having other's pull them off. They will undoubtedly be found guilty of all 3000 counts of murder, etc... This brings me to my next point.....to die, or life in prison?


Now, if we were to sentence them to die....well, that could just possibly be the absolute worst thing to do. These men are Islamist extremists....they live to die, so to speak. If we kill them, we make them martyrs. They will rejoice in the fact that they died for their misled Jihad. Extremists the world over will freak, and more people will die. No....we should sentence them to life, without the possibility of parole. 3000 counts of murder in the first is a couple hundred thousand years in prison. So, stick them in a supermax, in general population. They will get what's coming to them.

I'm not a political person. Really, my political views lie mainly in the independent/middle of the road area. But in this, we should make them pay. If that makes me a bad person...well....my intentions are good(insert something about the road to hell here). I do believe in closure for the masses. While this probably won't give it, and will most likely cause additional problems in the future, let's do it and be done with them. Lock them away, and wash our hands of them. Forget them, because doing anything else just gives them power.
